Senior Developer, Facebook, Social Media & Mobile 
at Softwind in Tech City / Silicon Roundabout

From Facebook apps to mobile and tablet applications, Softwind works on some of the BBC's biggest UK TV programs. We run Facebook engagement for Top Gear (10 millionfans) and Doctor Who (over 1.8 million Fans) and have developed cutting edge video on demand Facebook apps with Facebook credits integration.
We’ve developed our own proprietary “Facebook Engagement Platform” for social marketing apps so you’ll be dividing your time between on-going product developments and bespoke custom apps. You’ll be working towards a product roadmap and paving the way forward for the company from a technical perspective.
This is a senior level development position so you should be ready to advise and implement technical strategy and systems architecture with a view to creating robust, secure and flexible platforms towards a product development roadmap.
Responsibilities:
• Develop new features for existing solutions using PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS based on design specifications and customer requirements that connect to a fully normalized MySQL database.
• On-going product development on our proprietary suite of Facebook engagement apps
• Implement and support existing applications using the technologies mentioned above.
• Recommend code and design optimizations to improve the scalability of the applications and maximize performance.
• Front-end template development (PSDs to HTML, CSS etc…)
• Develop dynamic and social interactive applications for Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms
• Manage server/hosting environment and be POC for Rackspace and Softwind’s technical infrastructure
• Stay abreast of Facebook platform changes and enhancements and recommend new ideas solutions
Job Requirements:
• 3-5 years of hands-on PHP with web application development experience.
• 3-5 years of experience with MySQL.
• Experience with Object Oriented development.
• Knowledge of Linux.
• Object-oriented PHP 5 skills and experience with a PHP framework like CodeIgniter, Zend
• Strong knowledge of standards-compliant HTML, XHTML and CSS
• Javascript and understanding of AJAX techniques
• Experience using MySQL with large data sets
• Experience with Source control systems (CVS, subversion, git, etc)
• Ability to write and interpret functional specifications, and translate wireframes and design mock-ups into industry standard (and accessible) code.
• Strong knowledge of the online production process (from idea conception through to build, QA, and Launch)
• Excellent project management and multitasking capabilities.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills with little supervision.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of Facebook API and ability to learn and adapt to evolving functionality
• Experience of open source CMS (Concrete5, Drupal etc…)
