PocketProf is hiring

Head of Business Development

You will be working for PocketProf as Head of Business Development

We need a fired-up commercial lead to rapidly grow our presence in the US healthcare market, and blaze a trail for the next generation of healthcare.

Job description:
Soon our personal devices will automatically track every step we take, every calorie we burn, every minute we sleep. But data alone is useless. It tells us where we need to improve, but not how to improve.

That’s where PocketProf comes in. We take your data and turn it into behavioural medicine – to help you sleep better, stop smoking and worry less, without pills or potions.

Our first product, Sleepio, is a digital sleep improvement program clinically proven to help overcome long term poor sleep. Launched in partnership with Boots in the UK, we were one of Jawbone UP’s ten worldwide API launch partners and are finalising commercial terms with a leading multinational health insurer.

Now we need your help to rapidly grow our presence in the US healthcare market, and exploit the huge range of opportunities facing Sleepio.

Your role:
As Head of Business Development you will be a critical member of our tight team. You will be responsible for driving our business development efforts, securing new corporate customers and managing existing partners. Your focus will be on the US health market, and you will report directly to the CEO.

You will take responsibility for ensuring that we meet our B2B sales targets, and will be given the freedom you need to deliver against those goals. You will manage your own marketing and travel budgets and, as we grow, develop a team beneath you.

Skills & experience

You will:
• Have in-depth knowledge and/or solid experience of the US healthcare market.
• Have a proven track record of lead generation and business development.
• Value creating strong relationships as well as closing deals.
• Relish the prospect of taking on responsibility within a small but rapidly growing team.
• Be self-driven and organised, able to manage your own and others’ time to meet deadlines and targets.
• Be able to split your time between London and the US.
• Love the idea of using your skills to improve people’s health.

Compensation:
A competitive base salary as well as share options and generous cash bonuses for meeting targets.

About the company:
Co-Founded by ex-insomnia-sufferer Peter Hames and Oxford University psychologist Professor Colin Espie, PocketProf’s goal is to help billions of people worldwide sleep better, stop smoking and worry less – without pills or potions.

Our first product, Sleepio, is a digital sleep improvement program featuring proven cognitive and behavioural techniques, led by your virtual expert The Prof and his narcoleptic dog Pavlov. In a world-leading clinical trial Sleepio has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to face to face therapy, and many times more effective than sleeping pills. The Lancet called Sleepio “A proven intervention for sleep disorders using the internet…from www to zzz”.

We were one of Jawbone UP’s ten worldwide API launch partners, have secured distribution with Boots in the UK and are negotiating terms with global health insurers. With an advisory panel featuring Martha Lane Fox (UK Digital Champion) Prof Sir Neil Douglas (Emeritus Chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges) and Esther Dyson (Angel investor) we are uniquely well placed to succeed.

Based in Shoreditch in London, our small team is dedicated to creating the next generation of personalised healthcare in a way that doesn’t feel like medicine. Friday Team Talks ensure that we keep learning from each other and we balance the hard work with regular nights out. We’d love you to get in touch.
