You will be working for The Food Assembly as UK Country Manager

The Food Assembly is looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial Country Manager in the UK.

As a Country Manager, you will lead the strategy to develop the network and raise the awareness of The Food Assembly in the UK. The network is growing very fast across the country and we’re looking for the right person to ensure and oversee its successful development.

As Country Manager, you will also ensure the successful support and development of a team.

Leadership / Management

  • Provide operational insight into all activities in the UK
  • Coordinate the preparation of financial forecasts and development plans
  • Track and manage operational and financial performance metrics
  • Support alignment of company culture

People / Management

  • Oversee the operational roadmap of each team member (team of six)
  • Maintain and develop team spirit and cooperation: manage individual and team meetings, and challenge or support the team when needed
  • Conduct annual reviews and ensure that the team keeps developing skills
  • Recruit, train and onboard new staff, as and when needed

Business development

  • With the help of HQ, other country managers and the UK team, co-build and deploy the right strategy to grow the UK network
  • Identify and lead new strategic partnerships opportunities
  • Be a confident public speaker as you’ll represent the Food Assembly at conferences, events, and panels

Financial Management

  • Work in collaboration with the CFO and COO to optimise the UK P&L, including developing and managing the annual budget
  • Track revenue and expenses and address any issues that could impact current or future revenue

Strategy and Organisation

  • Work directly with the COO to optimise UK Strategy
  • Suggest product and technology improvements for the platform
  • Participate in corporate strategy and business development meetings
  • Work with the HQ services and local offices to develop and refine organisation, processes and best practices


  • 7+ years of work experience on business development with a management position, ideally in start-ups or in a fast-growing environment
  • A leader who earns respect from the team through experience sharing and “rolling up the sleeves”
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to diverse situations and work in cross-functional teams
  • Driven to meet deadlines and targets in a small entrepreneurial team
  • A critical and innovative mind – you must have the ability to question everything and find solutions
  • English mother tongue – speaking French is a bonus but not necessary
  • A passion for people, empowering others and building communities
  • Strong interest for innovation and the food supply chain, and knowledge of community networks


  • Based in London but with regular travels across the UK and occasional travel to France
  • Long-term contract
  • Salary: base of £50-65K with commission structure (OTE)
  • Equity programme
