New tech startup Provenance is seeking a great Ruby on Rails developer who’s keen to work on something meaningful. Ideally based in London, but anywhere in the South West or commutable distance to London works.
Provenance is not a shop. It is a platform for knowledge. We are the place to share the stories behind our material world. Whether it's a pair of shoes or a skateboard - products are more than a style and a price, they are the sum of the people, places and raw materials that created them. We exist to showcase these stories, somewhere for knowledge about the creation of products to congregate - educating, inspiring and powering better made things.
We have grown a great community of makers of all kinds of things, and from all over the world, during 2014 and are now focused on overhauling our site to make it even easier for anyone to share the stories behind our material world. We’re looking for a great Ruby on Rails developer to join us in January 2015 on a contract basis to be part of building the next generation of Provenance for launch in the spring.
We're looking for someone with experience of writing modern, tested, production-ready Ruby on Rails code to join our small, friendly team with designers, excellent customer service and experienced CTO.
You’ll be a pragmatist with a desire to iterate quickly on a product, while understanding the need to build well-engineered software that can grow incrementally over time.
Our main office is in London. We use tools like Slack, Trello and Github to work so clear communication skills are a must. Ideally you'd work in London, but you could work remotely, with some occasional (expenses paid) travel to London.
In addition to Ruby, experience in the following would also be really useful (although not required):
Responsive interface development using SASS
An interest in user-centred design
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Send us an application describing why you’d be right for the role, with a link to your site, CV, portfolio, GitHub page or similar.
