We are solving a big problem.
Kids are spending less time outdoors than at any other time in history, they are losing touch with the natural world and as a result their health and fitness are suffering.
In a study by UNICEF, UK children ranked at the bottom for childhood wellbeing out of all 21 nations surveyed. Around three in ten children in England aged between 2 and 15 are either overweight or obese. Children spend 89% of their life indoors, yet studies show that outdoor play and contact with nature has a beneficial impact on mental and social well-being.
We have identified an opportunity to reach our target audience through technology they are familiar with. Pocket Explorers is a project connecting children and their parents with the natural world, inspiring wild and unstructured play. With an app, website, and offline content providing activities, events and trails, Pocket Explorers will be all you need to create your own wild adventure!
Why work with us?
We are looking for someone who believes, like we do, that they can change the world, for the sake of children’s future, the great outdoors and the environment. We are supported by and work with Barclays, DEFRA, O2, UnLtd, Virgin, vInspired, National Trust, RSPB and National Geographic.
Over 3000 companies applied to join Wayra’s accelerator program and only 7 were chosen. The benefits are huge, aside from our own pod, we get access to coaches and mentors, investors and masterclasses. If we work well together, this could become a salaried, full-time position with your own team and potential equity. This is a great chance not only to grow as a company, but to meet others in the industry and gain valuable feedback.
