Little Dot Studios is one of the fastest growing next-generation media companies in the UK. We manage digital video channels for over 100 global TV brands, from The Graham Norton Show to Formula E. We also produce original and branded video content, and have launched several award-winning branded campaigns for household names like Pepsi and Samsung. The future of Little Dot will include more original IP across both digital and television (this year our first television production aired on the BBC in a prime time slot).
In just over 2 years viewing of our content on social platforms has grown beyond 500 million monthly views. Intelligent use of the considerable data this generates is central to our success. For this new role, we’re looking for an ambitious individual keen to start or accelerate their career by joining a fast growing start up. The successful candidate will enjoy close mentoring from the Senior Analyst but will also have significant autonomy, with the opportunity to own key initiatives. Many of these initiatives are well beyond the scope of a traditional analytical/insights function.
We’re interested in hearing from 2 types of candidate (or a blend of the 2). Either those with an existing foundation of good technical skills in statistics, programming and machine learning (aspiring data scientists looking to develop their skills further in a commercial environment) OR more commercially minded, entrepreneurial candidates with good analytical skills.
Work closely with the Senior Analyst to develop high-impact strategic insights in the following ways/areas:
audience development & content strategy for owned YouTube channels
explore opportunities to boost monetisation
leveraging data to identify ways to streamline and rationalise our YouTube rights management processes (YouTube content ID)
Analysis of YouTube recommendations and algorithms to identify opportunities to make our content more discoverable
Help coordinate and design A/B testing experiments
Produce quarterly reviews & analysis for major Little Dot Studios’ clients which include some of the biggest media companies in the world (ITV, Discovery Communications, Turner, Sky, Channel 4, eOne and many more)
Field ad hoc insight requests from across the business
Support strategic media buying around our owned channels
Personal Attributes, Skills & Experience
The Insight Analyst OR Junior Data Scientist must have: -
Excellent numerical reasoning skills (degree in a quantitative discipline or relevant experience/skills in lieu of degree).
Excellent data analysis and visualisation skills or an aptitude for this.
Excellent excel and powerpoint skills or an aptitude for this.
A passion and motivation to learn new skills and technologies on the job.
The following skills or attributes are highly desirable but not essential:
An interest in start ups, technology, digital short form video or the television business
Relevant internships or work experience in a technology start up, management consultancy, investment bank or media company
Expert level excel and powerpoint skills a distinct advantage
Knowledge of relevant computer languages like SQL, R, Matlab or Python a distinct advantage
Knowledge of machine learning techniques and big data technologies a distinct advantage
Experience working with web services such as APIs is also a distinct advantage
