What do we need
We're a FinTech company that's just raised a couple of million pounds and we need to build up our small development team. We build applications that help small businesses access different types of finance, and have already helped businesses to access tens of millions. Right now we are looking for an experienced python developer/devops to help with the development of new products and maintenance of the existing systems. We’re three years old and have done several rebuilds so we have very little legacy code. The bulk of the role is focusing on new build - from ideas through to implementation.
The ideal candidate is someone who is a creative thinker, interested in building new things and is looking to make a real difference. We're happy to make time for you to learn new skills.
What do we offer
Exposure to new technologies used in most startups. An open-minded approach to new methods and ideas. Development/technology/financial experience. Agile like working environment.
Friendly and flexible work environment.
We’re seeking a permanent staff member, but will consider a contract role for the right candidate. We have a generous employee share scheme.
We're looking for a senior level developer, meaning you'll have significant commercial experience and knowledge of the below:
Linux (Ubuntu) or Unix
Pyramid/Django or other web frameworks
Git or another DCVS
Even better if you can do these things too:
Automation tools like ansible
Why work for us:
Funding Options was initially set up to help other businesses get access to finance. We've pivoted once or twice, turned a pet project into a major new business line and have a very strict 'no dickheads' policy. We just raised a couple of million pounds in investment money and now need to build a bigger development team. We release new code every two weeks, spend most of our day working on greenfields technology (no legacy systems to support - we actively decommission old stuff) and have an informal daily stand up. Everyone gets a say in how we run the business and everyone gets share options in the company.
Funding Options was set up to use modern online technology to better match small firms with lenders. We also run Check Business, a fast-growing information portal aimed at small firms. Funding Options has featured in publications like the Times, Mail & Guardian. In 2013, we were chosen by Lord Young and Sir Terry Leahy for the 'Accelerate 250' list of most promising UK firms, and in February 2014 we joined Real Business magazine's prestigious 'Everline Future 50'.
