We need some help from a freelancer ensuring we have the right balance of server-hardware to take us into the future, without overspending or sacrificing security and uptime.
We’re an online, software-as-a-service company. Our current system is a blend of dedicated servers and cloud instances running the full LAMP stack with additional services such as MemCache, FFMPEG and Wowza Media Server.
So nothing too complicated!
You will need to examine our current software and hardware infrastructure, recognise it’s weaknesses and make recommendations on how to improve speed and reliability to get as close to a zero-downtime system as possible. Our software as a service model means reliability is everything!
In addition to evaluating our current platforms, we will be looking for recommendations on server providers, negotiating with suppliers and developing and implementing a migration plan. Once complete and ongoing a consulting role will be required.
We would ask you you have a strong grasp on:
* Determining server requirements (CPU and RAM configurations)
* Apache, PHP, MySQL, MemCache configurations
* Load balancing
* Database replication (Master/Master and Master/Slave)
* Automatic failover / redundancy
* Storage area networks and backups
* Cloud computing
* SSL Certificates
* CDNs and serving data across multiple data centres
* Migrating live sites
The following would be an advantage:
* Video streaming, live and offline conversion
* Amazon web services
* Google apps
Full access to the team that designed and continues to maintain the platform as well as the developers that write the platform will be available.
